Time for my um... nine-monthly update!

      Matters arising from last minutes

've moved (nice house, garden, shed, garage... NO FUCKING PUB!)

Still nice house, but jolly expensive. STILL no fucking pub. We're hoping to move again soon, coz this is ridiculous.

Errol has expanded to gargantuan proportions and is doing jolly well.

Errol is still gargantuan and still doing remarkably well since I have no clue what I'm doing.

He may well also be a she. Which is unfortunate when you're called Errol and your owner has decided you will be male. I may post pics at a later date if I can be bothered.

He was. It was the large number of eggs that gave us the biggest clue. And just to make sure we got the hint, (s)he's done it twice more since. She seems to be going for personal bests every time. I haven't the heart to tell her it's not an olympic sport. As you probably gathered - I never did get round to being bothered to post pics.

My new job is going nicely. Settled in really well and my contract is now being renewed (so I'm assured anyway) until March 2011, so that's a bit more secure.

Still have the job. Until this shower of bastards someone elected into power pulls it out from under me. Which could happen any day - and already has to one of my colleagues :-(. Why do preventative work with children when you can just put extra strain on the health and prison systems when they're totally fucked up later in life?

Got lots going on musically - playing at St. Pancras station this weekend, so come along if you're in the area. If only to point and laugh

Still in the band, still enjoying it. No further news to report. Played at St. Pancras - I noticed you all by your absence. Still at least you

      {didn't} actually do that.

      NEWZ
I turned 30. Yay me. And in the words of pTerry, I still aten't dead.

Been to three of the four weddings scheduled for this year - but left by FAR the biggest til last! Just went on the hen do - GOD I wish I could post pics. Hehehehe ;-)

Went to DWCon 2010 - Many thanks to Nudge and Feyd for the tickets! What an event! One of the most bizzare experiences of my life, in a good way! Not half as bizarre as I bet it was for the Hindu wedding party sharing the venue though...

Great to meet so many of you in the flesh for the first time there as well <3.

If I think of anything else momentous I'll let you know. But for now

Date and Time of Next Meeting

Um... prob about a year's time? Hell maybe I'll make a bit more of an effort and get to 6-monthly intervals.

      God this is funny

At least I thought so. Perhaps I've been spending too much time at work.

    • Yeah hi

      luggagegirl

Yes I'm still here (I know you all care)

Done lots of stuff since *checks journal*... Wow - October! I've moved (nice house, garden, shed, garage... NO FUCKING PUB!)

Errol has expanded to gargantuan proportions and is doing jolly well. The vet saw him last week, and was very pleased even though he was all wiggly and not at all co-operative. He may well also be a she. Which is unfortunate when you're called Errol and your owner has decided you will be male. I may post pics at a later date if I can be bothered.

My new job is going nicely. Settled in really well and my contract is now being renewed (so I'm assured anyway) until March 2011, so that's a bit more secure.

Got lots going on musically - playing at St. Pancras station this weekend, so come along if you're in the area. If only to point and laugh.

      Please don't actually do that.

So anyway, yeah I have been keeping up with you guys but I have very little access to interweb these days. Can't get on ANYTHING at work, and my computer's so slow at home I rarely have time for that to get going before I have to turn it off again! But yeah, I've been reading and assimilating, but not necessarily commenting. Soz. It doesn't mean I'm not interested!

      Love to you all. xxx

      luggagegirl

Ok, it was the weekend before last, but I was just randomly reminded how funny it was. You may have had to be there...

      <<noise>>
"Haha! [Merry jestage] Do you have a bag full of coathangers in your boot or something?![/Merry jestage]"
      "Uh... yes."
      ".... Oh."

Ok, you had to be there. You know who you are ;-)

P.S. For those of you who were unaware of it - I'm back.
P.P.S. For those of you who were unaware that I'd gone - fie unto thee. I don't know what fie means, but I'm pretty damn sure it's scathing.

    • SURPRISE!!!

      luggagegirl

Yes, howdy howdy all, how're you doing? Finefinefine.

Firstly, sorry to Nudge & Feyd who have probably been bored to tears by me for the entire duration of this last fortnight! Secondly, those of you who follow me on Facebook or have me on MSN may not be so massively surprised by this. Never mind eh?!

For the rest of you, a couple of weeks ago I promised you a surprise. Well here he (alright, it) is...

      Meet ERROL REGINALD STUMPY I

      06.jpg
      The Majestic Errol

Nudge rang me a couple of weeks ago and asked if I'd like a baby Bearded Dragon. She'd spotted him in a pet shop, where he was being picked on by his tank-mates as he was the runt of the litter.

She felt sorry for him, coz he's now only got 92.5% of his full quota of digits and apparently about 85-90% of his tail. Nasty little sods. Anyway the upshot is, when she described him I felt sorry for him too, so she and Feyd have looked after him for me for the past fortnight, and when they came down for the beer festival this weekend, he came too. This is how excited I am - the beer festival isn't even nearly the main topic of this journal! It was good though, for those who care.

      01.jpg
Next I shall train him as a shoulder-sitter. Watch how you say that...

      02.jpg
He heads up my arm rather than wanting to get off the hand. Does this count as success?! He really can shift!

      03.jpg
"MY water bowl!! I shall move it as soon as you're not looking... and I put on a few pounds..."

      04.jpg
I know it looks like I'm squishing him, but I'm honestly not!

      05.jpg
      Errol's Rock.
Like Ayers Rock only less culturally insensitive.
      And a bit smaller.

      07.jpg
"OOoooh! Now what have we here?"

      08.jpg
      Again, pas de squishage.

      09.jpg
"Right, now I've spent several minutes clambering up here... how do I get down again?!"

      10.jpg
      "I seeeeee you!"

      11.jpg
"Does my bum look big in this?"

So there you are. He's currently very cross with me because I've had to block off his nice little cave. I've made him another hide, but it's one where he can't cut off his UV supply completely - much better for him. Still, he's vexed.

*EDIT* Sorry... regarding the name: I realise it's faintly ridiculous, but those of you who are DW fans should be able to get the references in the first two names, and 'Stumpy' pretty much speaks for itself!

I also have to be careful what I put in the tank because he's special and tries to eat it all. Regardless of whether it's made of plastic, woodchip or whatever.

      Idiot <3.

So a BIG thank you to Nudge for giving me the kick up the backside to get the reptile I've wanted since for ever! And for looking after him so well until I could take him :-)

For those who aren't aware of me on Facebook (or aren't on the bloody annoying site themselves - very sensible!) I would like to make you aware of a development:

      I HAS A JOB!!!

I also has more news, but for that you will have to wait for probably about two weeks or so. I know the suspense will eat away at you. GOSH how excited?!! I'm so excited I think I might go and get some lunch and then sunbathe it out of my system. Any excuse... ;-)

    • A short step

      luggagegirl

Well folks, I've had something of a personal revelation; an epiphany if you will.

I have come to the stark realisation that I will not exist as the fun-loving, lighthearted, intellectually stimulating and generally fascination person you know for much longer. Don't say anything.

No... really. I've realised I'm slowly descending into the depths of genuine bum-hood. This was brought home to me when I realised that not only have I been sat watching the damn HALLMARK channel all morning (and, more worryingly, thinking it's ace), but now I'm doing so whilst eating Chicken flavour supernoodles. THE most nutritionally bankrupt "foodstuff" in the universe.

Alright so maybe that accolade goes to pot noodles, but still, I hope you get the point.

It won't be long before I sink to the very bottom, buying tins of Tennants special brew and drinking them on a park bench, whilst hurling random abuse at complete strangers. And pigeons (but they deserve it). It won't even be abuse made up of real words, because I will totally forget how to use the English language and revert to a complex, or rather NOT complex, system of gutteral and increasingly insane grunts.

So before I get to that point, I thought I'd let you know what's happening. You know, so you can come visit me on my bench sometime. Seriously, there'll be plenty of room :-)

GOD I hope I get one of these jobs I've got interviews for!

    • Well well

      luggagegirl

Hi everyone, Sorry I dropped off the face of the planet for a while. Didn't really feel much like a fully functioning member of society and didn't trust myself not to take it out on everyone else.

I have been keeping up with all your various newses though - even if I haven't commented. Particular thanks to Glod for keeping my watchlist ticking over nicely ;-)

I've finally managed to snag myself at least an interview (with the Job centre, of all the big fat ironies)! Which is better than the complete-lack-of-anything I've been hearing from everyone up until now. Don't know when it will be yet, and I've never really done nervous in a big way, but I sure as hell am now! I know I may not get the job but at least it's not a brick wall yet!

I also got back together with my boyfriend last weekend. Time will tell whether it's the right thing to do but I've thought about it a hell of a lot, so fingers crossed.

There. That's it. It wasn't clever, it wasn't funny, but that was my journal. I'll try to do better next time.

      Loves to everyone. <3

    • Staying with the advert theme

      luggagegirl

Ok, so I'm currently watching a LOT of TV and I am getting more and more naffed off with the number of purely shite adverts people are coming up with these days. Don't get me wrong, artsy and 'conceptual' (dahling) are all very well, but it's getting crazy now. There are also FAR too many ads where the mind-rottingly annoying jingle takes root like a blackberry bush in your mind and plays in an eternal, unceasing loop as soon as you lie down to sleep. Sleep?! HAH!!!!!

      "118 24 7, give them a call it's directory heav.... SHUT UP!!!!"

However, in these dark days of advertising purgatory, it is great to know that there is the occasional beacon of hope shining through the murk. Guinness obviously keep the standards something for lesser companies to aspire to. However, right now I feel I have to share my current favourites with those of you who may not have been lucky enough to get them wherever you live.

      I give you.........

      The Cadbury Creme Egg adverts

They remind me very much of Bunny Suicides, but animated, in colour and - I am reliably informed - no bunnies were harmed in the making of these ads,

    • MineIsAnEvil

Damn, it worked perfectly for me. I even tested it like three times. =/

It is a picture of a child with a budgie sitting on her head, and she is screaming, and the bird is just sitting there.

It is the front cover for a book called The weight of silence, by Catherine Therese. I don't know if the book is any good, I don't want to potentially ruin the awesomeness with a bad book. So I am not going to read it. Instead I am going to leave it as just an awesome cover.
If you search that, you should be able to come up with a copy of it. ;)

Hehehe, I had to refind the book name then, and I saw a picture of it. So good. Instant happy. =)

Okay, so rather than you trying to find it, I have just uploaded a copy to photobucket.

I was going to say I thought it was a native. Although I would likely need a... uhm... what are those permission slip things called? Anyway, one of those permission slip things to keep them. Unless I was living with my mum, who is a wildlife carer, so can look after any native animal.

Now that is going to annoy me until I remember what they are called...

EDIT: I REMEMBER NOW! A licence. You need a licence to keep a lot of Australian native animals.

Haha, yeah, he probably would. Only I have to wait a few years yet. We are planning on travelling a bit in the next couple years, so its better not to have to worry about pet-sitting etc when we go. Plus at the moment we are renting, so no pets allowed. Except my adopted-cat-that-is-actually-someone-else's-that-just-comes-around-and-visits-and-I-go-sit-outside-with-and-wonder-what-type-of-person-names-their-cat-Kevin. I am that desperate to have a pet. =P Although I am still lucky enough to have a dog, but he lives with my parents. It isn't the same as having them with you!
I wanted a turtle when I was younger. As I got older, that kind of transferred more into wanting lizards (specifically geckos). I saw my first wild gecko the other day, and sat and watched it for ages until it ran away. I didn't even realise we could get them here. Quite excited when I found out we can, when it ran out of a box I was trying to put in our recycling bin! Then it ran under our car tyres, and I was terrified it was going to be killed. It was fine though. =)

Mind you, I love almost all animals, and if I had my way, I would have had just about every type of pet possible. =P

I totally agree with you. There really is too casual an attitude towards sex, and it is resulting in a lot of unpleasant social statistics. It's very hard to strike any sort of sensible middle area about the subject, but there really needs to be less romanticising and more sense addressed to the issue.

It's like my issue with Sex and the City- I'm sorry, but since when is it ok to be having a new partner EVERY SINGLE WEEK? That show drove me insane. Also, surely there is more to life than men? <-- Actually I know there is.

I usually am.... this is passout drunk. I have only had that happen 2 other times... and both times I was fine.

I believe after talking to some friends the reason i went postal like that is:

      *drum roll*

my former housemate/good friend liked to push my buttons, and I would usually be the calm one who would let things go, apologise etc.... and well i don't think i let some of the aggression go.

I have only forgotten falling asleep one time before this... and I was quite a happy drunk then, apparently i lay on the couch asleep with my hand out mumbling... and the only way to stop me mumbling was have someone put there fingers in my hand... i was like a baby. haha
