      what a week!

It's been a great week already and RTX hasn't even started yet. We've been having a ton of fun doing ADR (dialog replacement) and visual effects for Lazer Team, we got a sweet new 3D printer, finalized a lot of awesome videos for this weekend, and my wife just put the last touches on some super cute RWBY cosplay outfits for our kids. (They are going to own the show floor! Deal with it.) Also, importantly, my friend @gstrompolos publicly reconfirmed our company's commitment to valuing creators and working hard to make sense of the complicated world of IP rights.

But best of all Marcus got us a Penny Press for RTX y'all. 4 designs - gotta catch 'em all.

      See you this weekend!

      Monty Oum has passed away

Our friend, inspiration and co-worker Monty Oum passed away yesterday afternoon at 4:34 PM surrounded by people who loved him very much. Ten days ago Monty suffered a severe allergic reaction during a simple medical procedure that left him in a coma. Although he fought bravely, his body was not able to recover. During his time in the hospital he was well cared for and never in pain at any time.

Monty is survived by his wife Sheena, his father Mony, his brothers Woody, Sey, Chivy and Neat, and his sisters Thea and Theary, as well as a countless number of fans and friends. We were so proud to be a part of his life and we will miss him greatly.

Your generosity during the hours after the public statement on Friday will help his family deal with the costs of his care and his passing. You made an incredible difference during a difficult time and we cannot thank you enough.

As for honoring Monty, we will do that in our own way. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we ask that you simply do something creative. Use your imagination to make the world a better place in any way that you can. If you know Monty like we do, then you know he would certainly be doing that if he were able to.

      Monty was 33 years old.

      We love you, Monty.

Rooster Teeth teams up with Fullscreen

During the last three years Rooster Teeth has grown at a crazy pace. We've been releasing more videos than at any time in our history. In fact, on a per minute count, we now regularly put out more content every week than we used to in an entire year! Of course quantity is not the most important metric, and of all our accomplishments I'm most proud of the fact that we strive to improve the quality of all our shows every single day.

All of this growth has been amazing and exhilarating, but it's also made us realize we need more support if we are going to take our company and our community even further. Burnie and I have been searching for a partner that could help Rooster Teeth to develop and grow, while allowing us to remain true to our core ideals and principles.

Today, I'm extraordinarily happy to tell you that we have found that partner, and we can announce that Rooster Teeth will now be a part of the Fullscreen family.

We've known the amazing team at Fullscreen for several years, and we are confident that they have the vision and integrity to empower & enable us take Rooster Teeth to greater heights than we ever could have achieved solely on our own. This is a company that is paving the way for the future of media and entertainment, and it's a future that we want to play a huge role in. Together our possibilities are endless.

We look forward to creating more fantastic content each and every day at Rooster Teeth, and working with Fullscreen will make that goal a whole lot easier. Thank you, the RT community, for your incredible enthusiasm and support these last 12 years. We hope you'll love every minute of our next exciting chapter.

      Lazer Team - Week #2

I just stopped by the Extra Life live stream. If you haven't watched yet or donated go do it now - for the kids!

So week 2 of Lazer Team production is over but it already feels like we are on week 20. Every day has been exhilarating and exhausting and full of surprises.
We started the week at a local prison - yes, a working prison - but probably not filming it in the way you might imagine. That day my older son Webb got to be in the movie and even did a stunt! He had on a full harness and a cable. I was proud but also very anxious. Thankfully our stunt coordinator Jeff was terrific and made Webb feel comfortable and safe. He was really pumped. My two favorite quotes of the day were Webb yelling "Everyone, Webb is on set!' and "Let's do this!'
The next day we shot at a crossfit gym and knocked out 4 scenes that all looked completely different. During a fight scene I learned that @alanritchson is even more of a bad ass than you probably imagined. A stunt guy kicked him in the head and Alan barely felt it, but it hurt the stunt guy's foot. TRUE STORY.
The rest of the week we shot at the National Guard Armory near Stage 5. We had a long dialog scene that the cast really brought to life with a bunch of hilarious ad libs. I probably ruined a few takes for audio by laughing off screen. The set itself was really cool too. Our art department made it from scratch and it had movable walls so we could do a few trick shots. Fun stuff.
We ended the week with a big action scene that had wire rigs and explosions and all kinds of cool special fx. I didn't realize how much soot and smoke and crud we were producing until I woke up the next morning. My head was all stuffy so I blew my nose, and a bunch of gunky black stuff came out. Really gross. And really awesome. Making movies the down and dirty Rooster Teeth way.

      Until next week,

      Lazer Team - Week #1

      Hey gang -
Been a busy and amazing first week on Lazer Team production! We've shot at 3 locations already and got some fantastic footage. Our very first shot was a complex moving camera setup with VFX elements that featured Alan Ritchson, our "Adam," running right past the camera. I wanted him to run fast, but had to keep telling him to slow down because he's so quick we couldn't catch him on camera! Later @Jon showed me some photos he took and in every single one ALAN'S FEET WERE NOT TOUCHING THE GROUND. Yes, he is a real life super hero, I guess we did well on casting.
One night we shot at the National Guard Armory across the road from our studios complex. Art department did an amazing job on it. It looked like a million bucks and our director of photography and gaffer did a kick ass job lighting a huge set with tons of extras. Had a little time to visit with some our Indiegogo EPs on set too which was fun.
Our only hiccup so far was shooting at this amazing set we had for a command center at my alma mater, UT. It was overnight, and during lunch (at 3am) they took this giant monitor system we were using offline, and then couldn't get it to reboot! Luckily we found some workarounds and everything was great, but I was mildly panicked for an hour or so. Thankfully our AD kept us on track and all our actors, including some RT folks, did a great job.
To end the week, we did a small table read with the core cast at Stage 5. It was the first time everyone has read together and man - what an ensemble! Allie, our "Mindy," is so charming, and Colton and @Michael threw in a ton of ad libs and were cracking everybody up. It was a great night.
Getting ready for a week of 14 hour days, and couldn't be more excited. We have some bad ass stunts and special fx planned for tomorrow. Can't wait to shoot it.
I will try to update once a week if not too exhausted. Thanks everyone for your continued support on backerkit, every little bit really helps. Also - if you haven't seen @Barbara 's posts about needing extras, please check that out for your chance to be in the movie. We can use you!
Lastly, I haven't yet had a chance to say thank you to everyone who posted their own ALS Ice Bucket challenge video after we put ours out. My dad thought it was amazing and our family is really thankful to you all.

Our ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video

      Hey Everyone -
We just took the ice bucket challenge to help raise awareness and money to fight ALS! Watch the video here. (It's awesome and has some super cool slow mo!) We are proud of all the charity work we do at Rooster Teeth, but I wanted to take a moment to tell you about how this particular cause affects me personally.

About a year ago, my dad was diagnosed with ALS. Before that I didn't know much about it, only that it's generally known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease" and that it's very serious.

Since then, I've learned that it is an extremely debilitating and ultimately fatal condition, and that there is no known cure and basically no effective treatment. It not only affects the person suffering, but in many ways the entire family. In our case, my dad and stepmom are currently in the process of moving, because he is no longer able to safely move about in the home that they've lived in for many years.

Thankfully, my dad is pretty tough, and with a little help from the VA, our family has the resources to cope with most of the changes that ALS has forced up on us. But there are a lot of families that aren't as lucky as ours, and - more to the point - ALS is a disease that no one should ever have to endure.

So thank you for watching and sharing our video. We hope it inspires you to take the ice bucket challenge yourself, or to make a donation to find a cure for ALS. We're nominating our friends the Barenaked Ladies, the Rock, and of course the Rooster Teeth Community to take up the challenge next. We know you guys will do us proud. You always do.

My own family, and my Rooster Teeth family, sincerely appreciate your support.

      Lazer Team Casting at RTX!

One of the most frequent questions we've received since starting our Lazer Team Indiegogo campaign is, "Are you going to have a casting call?" The answer is yes, at RTX! On Sunday, July 6 at 4pm CT we will be holding the Lazer Team casting call in Room 18 of the convention center for all RTX attendees. A professional casting company will be running the auditions. We are looking to fill some minor speaking roles that are open to all ages, races and genders. You do not need to bring anything with you and no experience is required. Please be aware that all auditions will be recorded and you will need to sign a release to participate. We're excited about finding a new star or two from our community, hope to see you there!

If you'd like to help make Lazer Team an even better movie please visit our Indiegogo page to make a contribution. There is less than one week left in our campaign, so don't wait! We'll have lots more Lazer Team news this week, and our Reddit AMA on July 3 at 12pm CT.

For more information and updates to the RTX schedule, make sure to download the RTX app for iOS and Android.

I feel like the founders of Roosterteeth were monumentally high when they came up with their company name because in a million years, the words rooster and teeth would never cross my mind at the same time.

I spoke to you regarding the song I wrote, "The Ballad of the Infamous 535". This is a better version than the one you were given. (I started re-recording it shortly after I sent a copy to Chelsea) It's still not as polished as some of my other recordings, but its nature as a old-style folk tune allows for such roughness until I finally have a reason to redo it.

      Hope you enjoy the music!

Hey Matt. I have a few things to say/ask.

      1. RTX was so awesome and a blast! I hope I can make it next year. (And maybe get a VIP pass or be a Guardian (Props to those people for making RTX so amazing and run smoother than I thought) and arriving in Austin at least 2 days before and leaving the day after or 2 days after RTX because I missed so much sidequest fun and I kind of wanted to discover the city more).

      2. I was wondering what will happen to the Monty Memorial now since RTX is now over. I am not sure I heard what would happen to it.

      Hi Matt!

I have a question for you about food, odd though it may be. You see I am a chef, and have noticed that since you've moved to your new location you don't have a cafe or some such to sustain you all throughout the day. I know, only normal human beings need survive on more than booze and rice crispy treats. However, I wanted to know if you had plans to create an in-house spot for chow?

Hey, my name is Jack Rivera as you can see by my user name, I know what I'm going to ask may seem like a lot but I was wondering if it would be okay to get a slowed down animation of crescent rose transforming so that I can make a hand made plastic model version of it to be put on to a 1/100 MG Deathscythe Gundam that will be on display with three other Gundams that will look like the RWBY characters with Beacon as their background?

Hey Matt. I was wondering if the RT store will ever be selling the "Official Japanese RWBY Fanbook" again, at the time it was being sold in the RT store I did not have the money to buy one and also it was sold out by the time I had some money and then it was gone from the store.

Why doesn't Doctor Emily Gray fix Lopez's voice box.

How about if Church said that to like Simons and Simons tries to tell Sarge who ignores him and then 'comes up with the idea himself'. Then what if when she did, Lopez sounded like Church, then everyone was really creeped out and Lopez says a shit load of really mean stuff to all the reds that Sarge will just blame on the Blues. Then Doc Gray turns the Spanish back on. Just think of the funny possibilities.

You may not read this but there is a girl in Rhode Island that is a huge fan of all things RT. Last year she was diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease and has been unable to do the things a normal girl should be able to do. Tomorrow, Wednesday May 13, is her 16th birthday. She will not be able to celebrate it as she should due to her disease. Furthermore, tomorrow she will begin using IV bags that will make her feel like she has the flu. I have talked very briefly with her and she asked me to contact you to thank you (for what exact purpose I do not know), and said to ask for a temporary follow on Twitter @Lindsey_Clark11 or a friend request on this site. Her RT username is lindsey_11. What I am trying to do with this message is make her tomorrows featured user, but I don't know if I'm too late to make that deadline. I encourage you to please read the rest of her story as she said it on her Tumblr
