      I work at Majestic Liquors.

Today was very busy as the new year parties are tomorrow. Today, someone called and asked if we sold alcohol.

If a liquor store sells alcohol.

No, it's no alcohol Thursday. Sorry, try again tomorrow. /sarcasm

    • Apparently I'm Extremely Introverted.

Myth #1 – Introverts Don’t Like To Talk.

This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts Are Shy.

Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Myth #3 – Introverts Are Rude.

Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

      Myth #4 – Introverts Don’t Like People.

On the contrary, Introverts intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. If you are lucky enough for an introvert to consider you a friend, you probably have a loyal ally for life. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance, you’re in.

Myth #5 – Introverts Don’t Like To Go Out In Public.

Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts Always Want To Be Alone.

Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts Are Weird.

Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts Are Aloof Nerds.

Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts Don’t Know How To Relax And Have Fun.

Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts Can Fix Themselves And Become Extroverts.

A world without Introverts would be a world with few scientists, musicians, artists, poets, filmmakers, doctors, mathematicians, writers, and philosophers. That being said, there are still plenty of techniques an Extrovert can learn in order to interact with Introverts. (Yes, I reversed these two terms on purpose to show you how biased our society is.) Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

I went to this site, and took the introvert self assessment and scored extremely introverted. Good to know. After reading some excerpts from her book, I think I might pick it up...

    • Dogs vs Wolves

      maverickgtr

I've been watching a documentary about domesticated dogs and how the different breeds came around. Toward the end they briefly touched on how a group of domesticated dogs react to a problem vs how wolves who were raised the same way with the same people as the group of domesticated dogs react to a problem. They placed a bone on the end of a rope and tied the rope on the inside of a closed dog kennel and put the other end of the rope outside the kennel. The dogs would yank on the rope for a couple minutes then look at the human in the room to get the bone for them. The wolves would yank furiously on the rope and when they couldn't get it they would try to find other ways to get it, and would eventually get frustrated and throw the kennel around as if to try to bend it open so they could get the bone and they would never look to the human for help. After watching that, I've determined Kaiya is a wolf.

The stuff that I personally used came from a friend of mine; his dad is in the Navy, and they've got 10,000 feet of it lying around. GI surplus stores generally have more than enough to make a couple bracelets out of, but the best deals are usually online. I've heard via Candlepower forums that Lighthound is a good place to find it, but I've always been a fan of Cheaper Than Dirt.
      Good luck!

Very wet. Been dealing with flooding since April. Some areas have been under water for months. Army Corps of Engineers have been releasing lots of water out of reservoirs up river of the Missouri to reduce flooding up river, but that means we're getting more water. Mississippi looks like its going down, but Missouri is still really high. Living between two of the biggest rivers in the Midwest means we deal with a lot of flooding.

Other than the local water problems, things are alright. Getting tired of being single and the ladies I'm interested in not being interested in me. Work's been real busy. Got 3 hours OT yesterday.

I thought about buying one of these, but a friend of mine's dad is in the Navy, and has something like 1000+ feet of the stuff in their garage, so he cut me about 40 feet of it... more than enough to make a couple of these things. Actually, the buckle on the ones I made were from cheap-o dog collars.

I had them both insured, luckily. However, it seems that the snowballing effect comes into play when you lose more than one. I lost a total of 500k~. The ships were 650-700k a piece and insurance only covered 450k~. I'm back in my frigate again for the time being. I think I would have been fine if I had not fully outfitted the second destroyer to try to get to my first wreck.

Learning curve is tough, but I'm not ready to give up...yet. I'll just slowly become more of a pansy and not fight at all. smiley0.gif

Yeah, well, I lost two more destroyers. Long story, but it involves completely shitty pathing, getting stuck in an asteroid, and about ten overpowered pirates.

Oh, and the reason for me asking...I was going to see if you guys could help me get to the wrecks tonight or tomorrow before they decay around 1:00 p.m.

Oh yeah, they are around here. It would be a waste of money to have them make the lump sum though, since they charge so much interest!

    • burgundy

Yeah, I wouldnt actually do a trust through a company. I would more than likely open up another bank account, a high interest savings account, and put the money in there, just allowing myself so much a month. Its a bit less interest than a CD, but I could freely access it. OR... what I just thought of was maybe pay all of my rent per yr or 6 months, then I could put it in something i cant touch for another 6 months, that way my rent is paid for (which is what I would like to use it for), and i can't get my greedy little fingers on it.

I've heard a bunch of stories about people getting fired for stuff they posted about work.

Another problem with social networking and texting is that people loose verbal communication skills. People get used to expressing themselves using a keyboard and don't get used to talking to strangers.

I actually got in trouble in college because of a group I joined. I got in trouble at the school for something on Facebook. Had to take some seminar on something. Don't even remember what it was. I thought it was because a group I joined that said they didn't like some random local gal that hung around the school dorms. What I really got in trouble for was because another group I joined that was in support of the school had the school logo in the pictures. They said that was bad because it was using copyrighted material. It was bogus.
