Indeed. I almost bought the books just so I wouldn't have to do that anymore >_>

No worries. Just wish someone had pointed them out BEFORE I finished reading every comic -_-

Yeah if you keep reading you'll find that someone already pointed that out to me. They should still be made more noticeable though. I sure as hell didn't see them.

The Silmarillion is great - if you can get through it. Some parts are really dull (I usually skip certain chapters), while others tell the most marvelous stories. LOTR was Tolkien's best book (and arguably the best book ever written), but the Silmarillion contains many stories, including the ones that Tolkien cared most about (The tale of Beren and Luthien was so important and personal to him, he inscribed the names 'Beren' and 'Luthien' on his and his wife's tomb).

I heard that 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' is good. Haven't looked into reading it though.

Most people I know can't bear to read The Lord of the Rings. 2 chapters in, and their sick of names, places and long paragraphs discussing genealogies. That's why he is a difficult read - because you often have to get through some dense material to get to the good stuff.

And, have you read The Silmarillion? Easily one of the most challenging books ever written - especially the first time around.

The Hobbit was written for children, and so is a weak argument.

I, personally, love Shakespeare (except for Midsummer Night's Dream). However, some people find it difficult because they can't grasp the language used. This is quite different from the difficulties in reading LOTR.

LOTR can be difficult for a first-time reader because of the lengthy list of names, places and historical context given. I stated that if you (Griffon) were a fan of mythology, it would be easier to read, because myths are similar in this way.

haha, dude. I knew what you were calling stupid. It's not like I would actually pay 400 bucks. I just wanted to refer to the podcast. And by the way, I put "Kick-Ass Rocks" in your comments as a joke, so I guess it's childish, but we are talking on a site that was made mainly to make boner jokes so I don't mind being a little childish.

FYI: saying no offense before saying something is the dumbest thing you've heard in a long time, doesn't make it non-offensive. I wasn't offended, but just for so you know. I mean I could say: No offense, but Jeff Goldbloom's a giant sack of shit, but I still think he might get pissed and sick a dinosaur on me anyway

Sooooo, my Kick-Ass comment is the dumbest thing you've heard in a while. 50 bucks says I can say something dumber.

      p.s. KICK-ASS ROCKED

and Africa is a city (there that's dumber)
