Well, I've been down in Charleston for about three weeks now. I'm still staying with friends at the moment. I have finally found a place to live though. I get to move in Tuesday night, something I'm pretty excited about. I'm also excited to not be imposing on my friends anymore, not having to drive 30 minutes to work every morning, and getting my puppy back!!
I thought i'd share a few pictures of the place. I took them before the house got a bunch of work done... floors redone, new carpet in the den and on the stairs, new appliances in the kitchen, and a fresh coat of paint on all of the walls (they're all boring white now, I might have to do something about that in the future).

      Pictures of the house:

I've forgotten how to make links on this site. I've been a horrible journal maker.

My friends and I went out Tuesday night... apparently it was kind of a going away for me. I got much drunker than intended, which lead to a most of the day hangover yesterday. My friend Lauren had a camera... here's a sampling of the night.

I was really into my boobs that night.... this was one of several pictures of me groping myself.

Nicer... but my friend Lauren looks crazy.

I got this tank top and was super proud of it.

My current roommate... apparently she's a Blood. Haha.

I haven't quite found somewhere to live just yet, but I have a place that looks promising. I'll go down to see it soon. Yesterday I kayaked for the first time and learned to roll. I'm not too confident yet, i need more practice. It was fun though. I can't wait to get good and actually go down some rapids. I'm pretty sore today.

Got the job. Moving down to Charleston, WV to start at the end of this month. I'll be on a neuro floor. I'll be working a full time, real person job... makig real person money. It's going to be weird, I don't think I'm going to know what to do with all the seemingly extra money I'll be making. I'll probably be using it in what I hope to make my new hobby... kayaking. I'm hoping to learn how to soon. :)
That new guy and i are no more. It was going great until I got the job above which moved me 2 1/2 hours more away. He decided he couldn't do that kind of distance, so that's the end of that. I am holding out a small hope that we'll stay in touch and somehow get another chance. I don't think I've ever bee so disappointed about things not working out with a guy after such a short time. I feel like we really had a connection and it's a shame that this distance has to prevent us from seeing if it could have been something. Oh well. :(

Have an interview for a job soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me. :)

That guy I talked about a couple journals, well he is no longer in the picture really. Not relationship-wise. I'm hoping we can still be friends because he's a great guy and fun to hang out with. But I'm not kidding myself, it might not happen. Over time I realized we were too much alike and I didn't really care to date the male equivalent of myself. I felt bad ending it, but it was for the best.
In other news along the same lines, I met a new guy. It's still very new, but I really like him and he seems to like me a great deal as well. We'll see how it pans out... but I'm smitten at the moment. :P

Well, I missed my five year anniversary on this site. It was April 13th, so happy belated anniversary to me. I've kind of been lax on my use of the site. I don't post journals or pictures very often, but I do check in on all of my friends, reading their journals and looking at their pictures even if I don't comment. Sorry about all that.

Quick recap of what's been going on with me...

I graduated from college back in December. I still don't have a job in my field, but it's been nice just having a relaxed few months working as a barista, going to the gym and hanging out with friends. The last thing on the list has been really good for me because it's how I met the guy I've been seeing. The past few years I've just been dating around, not really looking for anything serious, but the current guy has been a bit more serious. We've been spending time together pretty regularly and I'm really enjoying it. He's a great guy, nice, intelligent, and he really likes me... I like him a lot too. :) We have a ton in common, but we're different enough that we have plenty to talk about. All my friends are very excited for me, to the point of it being a little annoying, but I know it's out of love. Also, another new development in my life is that I'm going to be an aunt at the beginning of December... as long as my sister's pregnancy keeps (she's had some trouble with that in the past). I'm really stoked about it... I can't wait to spoil it. :D

    • Not good... great

Not to toot my own horn, but i am a pretty great friend. I, like everyone, have had my moments of being a shitty friend, but I think overall I'm pretty great. One example... tonight, just after midnight, I get a text from my friend that had gone out on a double date and then ended up at a bar. I found out that at said bar she had a couple shots of tequila that put her 123 pound self on her ass. She was parked in a place that could get her towed if she left it there overnight. Not wanting to get towed or drive drunk, she texted me to help her. So, after midnight I walk downtown with Isis, in my pajamas to get her and then her car.
We get her car and I drop her off at the house of the guy she'd gone out with tonight. Then I drove her car back to my place and parked it behind my own. My friend had texted me earlier in the night that she might have to park at my place, but I figured she would be dropping it off herself.
A couple weeks ago, I was hanging out with this same friend at our other friend's house when she got too drunk and I had to drive her back to my place. We got there she promptly got out of the car and threw up. I waited patiently for her, then took her up to my apartment, put her to bed in my spare room with a bucket and a bottle of water.
I think those two situations qualify me as being a pretty great friend.

Also, just watched 'Footloose' again tonight... I know it's been said before, but in the scene where Ren is dancing in the warehouse... the parts where it's the stunt double, it couldn't be more obvious that it's not Kevin Bacon. It's laughable how they tried to disguise the double. Haha.

    • Things that bug me at work...

      muddslide109

I work at a cafe in a bookstore... we serve coffee and espresso drinks that are the same as the monopoly coffee shop that you can find on every corner in major cities. Anyway, I'm pretty busy the whole time I'm there, which is nice, but customers can be so annoying. Some of the things that bug me are...

      - When people try to use the major coffee shop's gift cards although we don't accept them, we have a sign that no one reads or sees, and then get up-in-arms when I tell them that we can't take their gift card. Some people take it in stride, but others go crazy.

      - When I'm working at the register and I have my hand out to take their money and they put it on the counter forcing me to pick it up, making the whole exchange longer than it needs to be. Being the passive-aggressive person my mother created, I put their change on the counter at the end of the transaction... I do the same thing with credit cards and all other forms of payment.

      - When working the register, people that hand me crumpled up bills... I can't put the bills in the register like that, you've been waiting in line for 5 minutes, get your money out and straighten it out.

      - In addition to the last one, you've been waiting in line for 10 minutes... know what you want and have your money ready, there's a line behind you. Twats.

      - People that order cappuccinos and then complain when they get a cup full of foam and very little drink... they expect what you get at a gas station from a machine, that's really closer to a latte, though really it's just caffeinated sugar water.
Cappuccino = espresso, a small amount of steamed milk (it can very depending on how "dry" the customer likes their cappuccino, the less steamed milk = a dryer drink) and then the rest of the cup is filled with foam .
Latte = espresso, steamed milk, topped with a little foam

      - People that ask for nonfat frappaccinos... we tell them that we can't do that because our frap bases are pre-made with a fatty base. We have a light base, but that's all we can do. We had a customer the other day that got really bitchy when we told her this, I believe her exact words were, "Well do what you have to do to make that happen." Not your slave, i don't get paid enough to deal with your shit, fuck off.

There's probably more, but I am done for now.

Funny/annoying thing happened at work the other day. There's an odd man that comes in, he used to kind of stalk one of my coworkers, so she goes in the back when he is there if she can. We call him her creeper. No one really wants to deal with him because he kind of freaks them out, but I don't care so I end up helping him a lot of the time. He doesn't like one of my coworkers because he thinks she poisons him, he is a bit off his rocker. So he comes in the other day and it's me and the accused poisoner working, it's close to closing time, so there aren't very many customers. The creeper comes in while I'm at the register and I ring him up for a coffee, although we have to make him an Americano (espresso and hot water) because we are no longer brewing drip coffee because we're closing. The poisoner whispers not to tell him that and to just make his drink, which is whatever. The creeper says to me, "So you're running the register and she's making the drinks." Gesturing to the poisoner. Trying to keep the peace, knowing the history, and not wanting him to flip out I tell him, "Well yes, but if you'd prefer for me to make you're drink we can do that." He says that he would prefer that and my coworker gets all offended. She went on about it during the rest of the closing. I wanted to slap her. I explained to her that it wasn't really anything she did that made him think she would poison him, she just drew the short stick. She's a little nuts too. The customer did notice that we made an Americano instead of drip coffee, but I explained the situation to him and he seemed ok with it. Who knows, maybe he'll think I'm poisoning him too.

i think the fact you are thinking about the forgotten "thanks" is a sign of what he is interested in.
