Got my iPod Touch today. It's pretty awesome. I've named it Sergio for now... it may change, we'll see. And it looks like my iMac should be here tomorrow.

My bank's fraud department called my mom's house questioning my big purchase, so I had to call and confirm that it was just me being crazy, not someone that had stolen my card for a shopping spree. Haha.

    • I did it...

I bought a 24" iMac. I'm super excited. I almost had a coronary when spending that much money at once, but I'm ok now.

Today I also rented my textbooks offline and bought some sandals online. I don't know what got into me.

I got the free iPod touch with my order... well, I had to pay for it, but I'll be getting a rebate for it. I even got it engraved for free... though I just randomly chose a quote about music and now I don't remember what it's going to say. So it'll be kind of like a surprise that I gave myself.

Today was the first day of my last semester in college. Thank fucking goodness.

      Something I've always wondered....
Why is it when you mention to someone that the fly on their pants is down they turn around to zip it back up? You've already seen it open and probably a hint of their undergarments, is watching the zipper being closed too intimate an action? It's a strange phenomenon if you ask me.

Today started off ok, except for the rain. From there things just kept getting worse.

      - Took a jog with Isis. It was raining, but not too badly. When I got home my legs were all red and warm... it was strange and I'm not sure what it was all about.

      - When it was time to head into work it was raining pretty steadily. I had an umbrella and I rolled up my pants and thought it would be fine. The rain got heavier and heavier until it was pouring. My pants unrolled and from the knee down got soaked. Then while walking through a parking lot I stepped on a painted arrow, slipped, and fell... skinning the same knee I always seem to skin.

      - I get to work and I'm put on returns at a register right by the front door. So I get to deal with all that annoying return business, plus I'm answer the phone and trying to help those people. All day I hear the phone ringing and the security alarms around the doors going off because stupid cashiers and textbook people have not demagnetized the security things on the books. It takes all of 2 seconds. I ended up having to do it for half the people that beeped... the other half I was too busy to bother with, so we just let them go.

      - I've been dealing with the phones all week, but it doesn't make the ringing any less annoying. I did however accidentally put the phones on "Night" where all the calls go straight to voice mail this afternoon by accident. I really didn't mean to, but it was nice to not have to hear the ringing.

      - I apparently dropped my iPod on the ground when I fell. It wasn't turning on on the way home, so I figured it needed charging. I plug it in and all there is a white screen and half of the screen is a little darker than the other. I try to reset it several times. Every time I'd turn it off, the screen would come back on a few seconds later without me touching a thing. I fear it has died. I was thinking it was going to happen soon. I've had it for a good 4-5 years. His name was Clyde and he served me well. Gave me some problems periodically, of course, but he was a good iPod.

      - My desktop has also been giving me problems. I think it's time to start anew. Apple is having a thing that if you buy a Mac for school, you get a free iPod touch. Perfect timing. I'd been seriously contemplating about switching to a Mac recently. I was going to wait until after I'd graduated, but might as well just do it now.

      - Finished up the semester last week. I know I got 2 As and one B. I'm pretty sure I passed my clinicals, they were pass/fail. I have no idea about my nursing research class.

      - I found out when I went back into work to schedule hours that I have an extra week off that I hadn't realized before my last semester begins. So what am I going to do with that week? I'm going to work because I have nothing else to do.

      - I also found out when I went into work that although I hasn't actually worked in more than two months, I had gotten a raise. I am now making 25 cents more than minimum wage. Yeah, I'm a baller. :P

      - Yesterday I went on a spur of the moment trip to a small amusement park up just past Pittsburgh called Kennywood. I went with my friend Jeremy and two of his coworkers. So, yeah, it was me and three guys, but it really was a lot of fun. It actually turned out that one of the coworkers is in the nursing program with me, which we figured out when I got picked up that morning. I had a great time even though it was kind of hot, we went on two water rides and got soaked which helped a good bit. The day confirmed that guys are giant pervs, but then again, as am I sometimes, so it was cool.

      - I might be hitting Cedar Point with them in September which would be awesome.

I think that the one thing any good looking guy can do to making him completely unattractive is a cigarette. I don't care how "hot" he is, the second I see him light up I'm totally repulsed. I know exactly what that cigarette is doing to his body and it saddens me. I wonder how hot he'll be in thirty years with not being able to breathe, hacking up all that wonderful mucus his lungs are producing, and with skin that looks like a leather hand bag. Not to mention, he probably smells like an ashtray all the time.

Yeah, you look really cool... good luck with that lung cancer.

Monday I watched a patient's heart rate go bradycardic (slow down) on the monitor until they became asystole (flat-lined, all electrical activity in the heart stopped). To put it simply, I watched a person die via their vitals.

Today, I was in a patient's room while she became bradycardic, went agonal (short shallow breathes), and finally became asystole. This time I watched the patient die in person.

What an awesome final week at my rural site. Someone else will probably die this weekend, since these things always happen in threes. Case in point, three drug overdoses came into the ER this week and ended up back in the ICU.

    • Why?

      muddslide109

A couple weeks ago I was at the dog park and this man is walking by on the path that goes along side of it. He asks if he can come in and sit down, even though he doesn't have a dog. I tell him it's fine, even though he seems a little off. Big mistake. I come to find out that my new friend, Paul, lives at the local homeless shelter, it is making him very anxious, and that he likes feet. Who comes right out and tells a person that? He's harmless, but quite weird, like should probably be on medication weird. Every time he sees me at the dog park alone he comes in to talk to me. The last time he started talking about how he liked pedicures, sandals, and feet. It made me wish I'd worn my sneakers. Yikes.

One of my good friends growing up just had a baby. She lives a house away from me and we hung out all the time up until sometime in middle school where we grew apart. I saw her a couple years ago and she was married, I'd thought recently about whether she was a mom yet. It seems like everyone I graduated high school with is either engaged, married, or having babies, or has already had a baby. I feel way behind the curve... I don't even have a boyfriend nor any prospects. Hopefully I'll have better luck in AZ, or wherever I move to after graduating.

I want to get a GPS. Nothing too fancy or expensive, just so I don't have to look at a paper while I'm driving. I've been looking at eBay and the two brands that come up for cheap are TomTom and Garmin. Comments? Suggestions? Any input you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

    • What does mine say? Sweet.

      muddslide109

      How about mine? Dude.

So, Friday was my friend's birthday. We were supposed to meet at my other friend's house and have a little party before we headed downtown. I was supposed to be there by 7:30, being told previously I was going to get picked up I took my time. I come to find out at 7:15 that no one is going to com pick me up. Now I don't have time for the 1/2 hour walk there, so I drive and park in my friend's lot because she says I'll be fine there.
I proceed to get very wasted because I drank fairly heavily and haven't had anything to drink in about a month. I wake up Saturday with a monster hangover, so I'm essentially bed ridden for the rest of the day.
Sunday I go to the dog park, do some homework, etc.
I wake up this morning to go to the gym, walk down to my parking lot and my car isn't there. I start freaking out because I think my car has been stolen. I call my friend who has a key to my car thinking maybe she's pulling a prank on me, she doesn't answer. Just before I call the police I realize that I had left my car in my friend's parking lot Friday night. Feeling relieved I walk to my friends lot. I get there and what do I see? Not my car and an empty space where it had been parked. I had been towed. It's not like there weren't plenty of other spaces in the lot, but apparently the asshole that had me towed wanted that one... or just wanted it empty.
I call the number on the signs to find my car. I find it and am told that it will be $146.24 to get my car out. What kind of fucking arbitrary and random amount is that? And of course, the crooks only take cash. What started out as a kind of funny, "Dude Where's My Car?" event turned into a not funny "Dude Where's My Car?" occurrence (their car was towed too).

I swear, if anything else goes wrong this week I'm going to straight stab someone. Plus I'm still trying to find a way over to the towing place since everyone I know is either at work or still asleep. Bah! I have been resistant to the FML thing, but seriously FUCK MY LIFE!!

EDIT: Turns out it was only 132.25. Also, I discovered that they towed me the night I parked there at 3am!!! Safe to park there my ass. Grr.

      muddslide109

Went to the gym today for the first time since before I rolled my ankle last week. I went a little easy on myself to get back into it, not lifting as heavy as I had been before I stupidly injured myself. I did do more cardio than I had been doing before though, make up for my slothfulness the past week. I think I'll probably hurting a bit tomorrow, but I'm ok with that. It'll be a good hurt... unlike when I busted it last week.

One of the worst parts of my day when I go to the gym is getting undressed afterward. Taking off a t-shirt soaked in sweat... kind of gross. Taking off my soaking sports bra... completely nasty.

Another thing... I think my navel ring is rejecting again. I am thinking about just taking it out and letting the hole close up. Thoughts? Opinions?

Although I can't get on AIM right now because I'm about ready to walk out the door to pick up one of my daycare kids from preschool... speaking of which, I could take on 20 five year olds... but I'm pretty sure that number is inaccurate anyway because my daughter is five and I'm certain she could inflict serious damage on an adult given our play wrestling matches at home. smiley8.gif
