Suck my metaphorical dick, real world. I hope college gets better because high school is starting to really suck. Come on, real world, just a few more months!

In the meantime, let me take solace in Rooster Teeth and the internet in general.

with a friend for a birthday present for one of my other friends. There we were in Hot Topic, my guy friend just trying to help me pick a present for my friend who is a girl when we saw a mannequin sporting Miley Cyrus's bear unitard from the VMA's.

Hot Topic. This is a thing? Really?

      I need to stop.

      Warning: real-life ranting ahead.

I wish I wasn't as shy as I am with people, and I wish I wasn't so afraid of rejection. I really want to make friends, and once I do make a friend, I'm totally outgoing and stuff. Until then, though, I'm frozen at the prospect of approaching someone.

Sigh. I should get out more.

I think I want to write a collab with someone. I've never written a collab before, but I've always wanted to give it a shot.

Now, for those who don't even know what I'm going on about, what is a collab? A collab is a written work that has been written by two or more writers. It can be of any genre, even fanfiction, as long as it is being written by two or more writers.

For now, I think I want only one writing partner. Of course, what really matters is if the partner and I can agree on one genre to write in. Plot agreements can come later. First, I will say what type of stories I have written and I am interested in. In the "have written" section, asterisks mean that those are my speciality, and in the "interested in" section, asterisks mean top priority.

      Have Written:

      - Psychological thriller*
      - Romance*
      - Science Fiction
      - Realistic Fiction*
      - Fantasy
      - Mystery

      Interested In:

      - Romance
      - Science Fiction*
      - Fantasy*
      - Mystery

In terms of sci-fi, I have always been interested in the setting of dystopian worlds and the breaking down of society. To see what I'm talking about, check out Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood or 1984 by George Orwell.

I have some requirements one would need to fulfill in order to apply for the position.

      1) Open to criticism, suggestion, and revision.

This one is a biggy. Writing as a pair means that compromises will need to be made. Now, that isn't to say that if a person has an idea that I'm not particularly fond of, I won't turn it away immediately. I will definitely give it my utmost consideration. However, if I am trying to make grammatical error corrections and plot suggestions and they are simply turned away or they are berated with "No, I think it's fine! You're being bossy!", I cannot condone that. Simply put, I am looking for a writer with an open mind and open ears.

      2) Decent spelling and grammar.

I'm not asking for perfection. I am, however, asking for the proper English taught in school. Let it be known, though, that I have a keen eye when it comes to things like this. In fact, some of my writer friends may consider it nit-picky and not too important to take serious note of such errors. It is important. That is all I can say to make this brief.

      3) A creative, vocal mind.

I want a person with ideas, a person who is ready to contribute to the metaphorical table. This is collaborative writing; therefore, we collaborate and share ideas.

      4) An easy disposition.

I prefer the writer to be someone easy to get along with. Who knows? Maybe we can even become friends.

After writing all of this, I can conclude that collaborative writing can help a writer in his or her own writing. Witnessing how another writer works may also inspire and help the writer in broadening his or her own horizons.

I am looking for only one person to write with. If you are rejected, please don't be offended.

Anyway, if you are interested, please leave me a comment on this journal. If you would like or prefer, you may contact my Skype: driftingnoise. Be warned, I don't take kindly to spammers.

    • Entry #82: Social Networking Insecurities (rant full of opinion)

      noisedrifter

Okay, I have some griping to do today...

You see, RT, I have a Facebook, and as such, I make friends, post statuses, and ultimately, to the root of it, subconsciously whore out for likes and comments from my friends. Now, when I notice that I am getting a significant decrease of likes and comments, I cringe slightly. "Did I do something to offend someone? Do people not like me anymore?" etc, etc.

It may seem a bit pathetic, but I suppose I could claim the feeling as just a part of me, a 17-year-old with the regular insecurities of a teenage girl. And what I feel, I am quite certain, affects also other people, and it can be a feeling not exclusive to girls. Perhaps maybe to the more sensitive male party? I dunno. Sometimes, too, the feeling is stronger with other people. The decrease of likes and comments slightly bothers me, but to others, it bothers them to no end. And when they see their friend list and notice that they are one friend short than when they last saw the list? Their whole world can just collapse. It's all rather dramatic.

And to conclude, social networks, I believe, have created a whole new way for people to feel insecure. Not only can the feeling of loss of friends affect people strongly but also the need to gain more friends becomes stronger. Then the friends that they add aren't even what they would consider friends in the real world. The majority are bound to be acquaintances rather than friends. Those people, rather than friends, become just things to help fill up a friends list. So not only does a social network give insecurity room to fester, but it also bears fruit to superficiality.

I don't mean to sound overly pessimistic with this next statement, but this is society today. Welcome to the 2010s.

If you have any opinion on this and anything to contribute on the subject, feel free to comment. I'll welcome it with open arms and an open ear.

Now it's time for the arduous, nostalgic part of the post-trip cycle... Uploading pictures. Normally, I would be too lazy to upload pictures, but because this is RTX and I have nothing better to do now (besides actually doing something productive -cough cough /shot-, I will do it. Besides, it's fun looking through pictures, especially when they're of an epic time like RTX.

That happened pretty quickly. What if someone makes a Rooster Teeth group for it?

It looks like this isn't going to die down for a while. I feel bad for Joel.
