Easy work day, easy class day, breaking in a new sketchbook and watching Carl Sagan's Cosmos. Today I feel fantastic.

So right now, I'm lying in bed, laptop propped open. I spent a lovely day with my dad, I've been reading the Harry Potter books again, watching Doctor Who, and I wrote Geoff a special note containing Birthday/Father's Day sentiments.

Today has been a wonderful day, and I can only hope that tomorrow will be even better.

I just bought myself a new Xbox 360. I feel like I kind of deserve it though, considering my current box is a 10GB first generation pro. As much as I love her, the old girl is starting to get slow, and the tiny hard drive isn't enough space anymore, to the point where deleting as much as I could barely made a dent in it. I figure, I transfer all of the data to the new box, which comes with me to school. The old box gets a clean wipe, and I can still use it whenever I'm at home.

The new box should come here in something like two days. January 7 at the latest. I'm super excited for it's arrival. smiley13.gif

I saw my face in the new episode of PATV that covers PAX Prime 2010. I know it's probably not that impressive to see my tiny, blurry face in a crowd of over a thousand people... but it means something for me. It means I was really there, and to me, that's incredibly important.

smiley13.gif In being a poor Colorado college student, I don't often get to go on big trips. However, I saved up and went to Penny Arcade Expo this year!
smiley9.gif PAX was awesome. I arrived in Seattle a bit early to enjoy the town, but the real fun started on Friday. I got there super early and waited in the line that gets you into the line to get in. Managed to snag the front spot in the second bunker and got one of the concert bracelets! How awesome is that?
smiley9.gif I immediately split from my group when we got in because I wanted to see EVERYTHING! I played some giant D&D at the Wizards booth, rolling a giant dice and playing as my standard Half-Elf Cleric. Eat my Lance of Faith, White Dragon!
smiley9.gif After that, I bopped around the entire convention hall, stopping at the RvB booth for pictures and to meet the guys. Now, meeting the RT crew ranks very highly on my list of awesome experiences. They were all really nice guys, and it was cool to just talk to them. I even managed to piss off Gus by knocking the entire display for the Remastered Box Set over (I'm really sorry, Gus!). I got to take a picture of myself with Burnie, Gus and Geoff, and then later on with Burnie and Joel.
smiley9.gif Next, I scurried over the Beneroya for the RvB Panel. Now, the RvB Panel was really incredible. The RT guys were totally in their element and it was a lot of fun. The exclusive RT short of Gus in short shorts and a blond wig was both awesome and terrifying... I don't think the world was ready for that yet... or ever will be. Getting to see the finale of Revelation before the internet did was really cool. It was an amazing finale, though I am very sad to see the story of Church and Tex officially end. I even got to ask a question during the Q&A (the very last one!).
smiley9.gif As soon as the panel was over, I booked it back to the convention hall to pick up the DVD for Revelation. I got it, my RT shorts DVD, my original season 3 DVD, and my Remastered Box Set signed by the entire cast, which was very awesome. I had a nice conversation with Burnie for a few minutes, and even introduced myself, and shook his hand.
smiley9.gif After that it was just me bopping about the hall. I ran into Jerry Holkins, which was awesome. I asked him to sign my badge, and even gave him my sharpie, since he didn't have one. This earned me cheers from the people around me, which was cool. I even got to take a picture with him. Jerry is such a cool guy.
smiley9.gif That night, I ditched the concert to go see "Of Dice and Men." The play was amazing, and very touching. I recommend supporting these guys and seeing it in theatres when it finally comes to that kind of venue. It was one of the most amazing plays I've ever seen, without having costumes or sets. Just people, D&D, and a good, real story that reaches into your heart (honestly).
smiley9.gif I woke up bright and early on Saturday and got in line at Beneroya to get into the Penny Arcade Draw a Strip panel (I even got the wristband for the bracelet~). The wait in line was totally worth it, and I got a seat near the front row. Mike and Jerry were having a good time, making jokes and doing some amusing doodles (my favourite being the dickwolf). Watching Jerry write the script and Gabe draw the comic live and in person, right near them, was certainly an amazing experience.I also got to be the last question for that Q&A as well!
smiley9.gif During the day, I wandered the convention hall, seeing and playing some really cool stuff. I checked out the Dishwasher Vampire Smile booth and the Hoard booth. I'm really looking forward to those games, and the demos were really a lot of fun. The creator of the Dishwasher series was there, and I got him to sign my poster, which kicked ass. I shook his hand and told him that his games were awesome, of course. Next, I'm surprised to say, I managed to get into the invite-only Civilization V viewing without an invite. This game looks fantastic. The new hexagonal grid, the revamped unit system, and the beautiful graphics are all big draws. Another interesting thing is the fully animated world leaders, who speak in their native languages. Rameses II speaks ancient Egyptian, and Moctezuma speaks Nahuatl. As an Anthropology major, that was something I really enjoyed.
smiley9.gif The Saturday night concert was freaking amazing. I got to meet Khoo while waiting in line, and although stressed, he was a really nice guy who deserves a lot of respect. Jerry and the Sex Generals as the opener for Omegathon Rock Band was awesome. Jerry can sing surprisingly well! The Omegathon round was awesome too; each band had to use the new keyboard controllers and play Foreigner's "Cold as Ice" and Jerry's team won for the first time ever. Though the crowd didn't get much into it, MC Frontalot put on an amazing show, and it was awesome to see him play live. Next was Paul and Storm. Honestly, I had never heard of these guys, but once they played, I was an instant convert. They definitely stole the show. I had to head out and catch the last bus before I could see JoCo, but even without seeing him, the concert was just awesome.
smiley9.gif On Sunday, I really didn't do much. I bopped around the hall doing the demos I had missed out on. I grabbed some more stuff from the Penny Arcade and RvB booths (man, I don't really comment on it, but I spent A LOT of money at PAX... primarily at the RvB and Penny Arcade booths. I also bought a lot of dice.) I got in line early and had a great spot for the Penny Arcade signing. When I got up, I was a bit of a spazz, and Mike and Jerry cracked some jokes. My favourite was when I asked if they had a limit to the number of things they would sign. When they said no, I ran to my bag and grabbed the poster I wanted to get signed, to which Jerry remarked "Oh no, what have we done!?" After they were done signing my stuff, I asked for a picture, to which Mike said "Now you've gone too far!" Those guys are just so awesome and laid back.
      smiley4.gif Continued in part 2.

    • I don't believe it myself.

      omegaprime

Well, it looks like I'm actually posting a journal. Isn't that surprising?

A lot of things have happened since my last post here. Barack Obama was elected president, and the year 2009 has been ushered in. 2009 has brought me a lot of unpleasantries so far, and its been a bit tough. However, I seem to be managing. I certainly hope things get better before graduation. That's right: I graduate High School in May. Its hard to believe that I may be going off to college soon. Scary, but exciting. I haven't been accepted anywhere yet, and I really only did one application so far, but I think my chances are good.

I also turn 18 in less than a month. 18 is a big year, if you have not heard. Though mine not be as much of a big deal as I would like it to be. I'm still going to be the same gangly, pasty nerd that most people know me as (if they know me at all). I made a resolution to be a bit more outgoing this year, but it hasn't gone very well at all. I still don't have too many friends (this is reality, mind you) and no girlfriend to call my own. Hopefully these things will change soon.

I think I am going to cut this one off right now, so thanks for reading to whomever is actually on my profile. Feel free to comment or send me a message.

      Thanks for reading,
      Evan

I know the feeling, man! I'm right there with you! I'm a lonely being... It'll be worse when school starts back up again. But at least I'm a senior now. Yeees!

I visited Colorado once. What a lovely place! I visited in the summer, and the weather was nuts!

Anymore Pokémon antics to chat about?! ^___^

    • NortyBits

*laugh* Don't you hate it when people start up a conversation then are about as responsive as a pet rock!? Grrr.

My bedroom faces the sun, so I bake in the summer. Well, Washington summers aren't too horrible, but they can get hot.

I needs me some gloves. Or I could just turn-off the AC. Duh!

I don't know any of the Japanese Pokémon names!!! Ack! >.> I am in year 2 of Japanese, though. Hmmm.

I want a Raquaza! Oh yeah! That reminds me, I have Emerald! Lol. I forget all my games...

*scratches head* Oh! That's right! A friend of mine raised all, and i mean ALL me Eevee and her evolutions levels to 96. I never use them in battle. I'm just a S-P-A-Z about Eevees. I have her and every evolution of her! "How did you get that many Eevees to evolve?" one might ask. Well! My boyfriend had a male Eevee, and I had a female one. Total, we made about 14 Eevees, so each of us could have a set of her evolutions. (She breeds like a rabbit, lemme tell you!) He has Pearl version.

    • NortyBits

Ah! So you have Diamond, too?! Cool! The only reason that I've never been able to beat the Elite Four in any other games was because I could only play without cheating. I never (still don't!) cheat in a Pokémon game! I don't use any hacking. (I use an occasional guide book when I'm stuck in a Cave or something, but that doesn't really count. I have a terrible sense of direction.

    • NortyBits

I don't/didn't collect every version of the GBA games, but I used to have Gold and Silver. I still have Yellow, Crystal, and Sapphire. I wanted Fire Red, but didn't (still don't) have the money.

Oddly enough, Diamond was the only version I was ever able to beat the Elite Four on... -_- Not quite Pokémon Master material, but I come CLOSE!

    • NortyBits

*huge grin* I friggin' LOVE Pokémonz! What'd you wanna talk about? It'd never scare me away. (Plus, I've seen every, and I mean EVERY, movie that's ever come out in English.) I have Diamond version, of the latest games. I really want Battle Revolution for the Wii!!! That's practically the only Pokémon game I don't have.

    • NortyBits

... ... ... I may not seem like it, but I'm a diehard Pokémon fan!!! I was so sad when that trend died!!! I still have all my old cards, stuffed Pokémon, games (a LOT), figures, etc... I WILL TALK!!! ^_______________^

      YAY! Another Pokémon fan!
