Minus the few years I was away, I have thrown half of my life into this site. I couldn't count on ten fingers how many things I have gotten bored of in my life, but Rooster Teeth is not one of those. RT and RvB have always been my fallout for other novelties that wore off; I guess I just didn't notice that it was that much a part of my life. And here we are, ten years later: So much has changed in my life but I'm still doing the same one thing I have been doing for ten years.

As appropriate to my returning, I will be attending PAX East to reignite an old tradition. Although I must admit: I have only ever gone to PAX East once; I remember when Prime was all there was. Nostalgia.

I'm glad Obama was elected president.

He's ending the Abortion gag order. Which will lift a ban on government supported abortion and family planning clinics.

And he's enabling Stem Cell research, which also kicks major ass. Things are going good so far :-P

Meanwhile, in non-good news: 3 infants and 2 adults were stabbed to death while 13 others were wounded in a random attack at a daycare in Belgium.

And David Koresh's mother was stabbed and killed today.

    • Odd story

      otis

I was reading the news today, and I came across this link.

Long story short, a 6 year old kid missed the bus, stole his dad's car (while his dad was sleeping), and tried to drive to school, when he lost control and wrecked.
The kid wasn't wearing a seatbelt when he had the crash, but he wasn't hurt.

However, his parents are being charged with "endangering a child" and neglect.

What the hell is the law coming to?

So yeah, thought I would pass that bit of information on. If you're looking for a job, I wouldn't recommend those places..... Seems like the year is off to great start so far.

I love the Grinch. It's odd how his hair looks like Ace Ventura's though o_0

As it turns out, the surgery didn't happen yet. They were supposed to take the port out of my chest, but no such luck. My doctor that was going to do it was elected State Rep, so he doesn't have time to do it anymore. I'd do it if I didn't risk bleeding to death <_<

Christmas is going as well as could be I suspect, doesn't really seem like Christmas though. Texas weather is being horribly annoying. Even New Orleans got snow before we did. What's up with that?

Job searching still isn't going so well. But I'm filling out an application for free-lance writing, so this should be interesting.

Y'all have any plans for Christmas?

I'll post the end of hte article I sent in when they call me. Don't want anybody to steal my ideas

Alright, I don't think I've been online for about a month, so I'm back.

Finals went okay, Biomed was probably the easiest, which is surprising. But now I'm sitting in my apartment waiting for classes to start again in January.

Still trying to find a job, but no luck. The Ducati dealership said they'd hire me in January if I was still looking for one.

And I haven't been on lately because of stress, family, and medical issues. I may not be on for a while again because I'm going to have surgery soon, so that'll be awesome.

      How've y'all been?

Earlier today, Michael Crichton, aged 66, died of cancer in LA.

He was my favorite author of all time. He wrote such great novels as Jurassic Park, Congo, The Anrdomeda Strain, Timeline, State of Fear, Next, and founded the television show "ER".

I'll miss no new books :(

Just got a job interview for Game Crazy, so hopefully it'll turn out well :)

This week has been going pretty well, I'm slowly doing better in all of my classes, it's getting colder, a bunch of new games are coming out soon, so hopefully things will stay well.

Anybody have any tips for applying to a game store? I was going to go to it in a dress shirt and black slacks, but I don't want to be overdressed, or underformal.....

Kendo is a lot of fun. At least if was for me when I was still practicing. The freedom of movement is great, totally allows me to play my mobility advantage. I don't practice anymore, there are personal reasons and practical reasons. I miss getting my ass handed to me though.

I can't do SCA stuff due to time and money constraints. The group around here doesn't do the circle either, its track based (which was a major turn off to me).

You have to be stupid or in a race to ever need to do it in either one. Doing it on a motorcycle is a death wish. On my country roads, drifting in a car means you either plow into a tree or you plow into the car coming at you in the other lane. But I have never been a fan of crotch rockets, so I dont know the phyisics behind a bike drift.

      well greetings fellow SCA fencer!
      you're from Ansteorra?

    • violentvixen

Huh! I'd actually never heard of SCA fencing until I saw your comment, looks like cool stuff.

However, since I do classical epee and sabre, I honestly have no idea what sort of advice I could give you since a quick glance at Wikipedia makes it clear the rules are completely different (for example fencing in a circle instead of on a strip completely blows my mind). Is lunging and en guarde even the same in both? I could probably suggest some basic drills and exercises, but I'm really not sure if they'd help you.

Not that I know of. Depends on if you're going to go the SCA or modern route.

There's usually both at the university level.

Thanks for the friend request however we don't have tons in common and you're quite a bit younger than me, so I'm a bit unsure about adding you at the moment. But I've put you on watch :)

Sphere is by far the best Chrichton book I've read, and one of the best books I've read out of any. I was sorely dissapointed with the movie however, especially no giant squid!!!

As far as Chrichton is concerned I"ve read: Jurassic Park, The Lost World, Sphere, Congo (halfway through, never finished), and I think that's it. :)

    • NO_YES

I'm not too familiar with SCA style fencing.

But having good footwork is pretty crucial... so I'd say concentrate on that.
