Yesterday I went to see Harry Potter. It's more of an obligation at this point than a conscious choice, but I went to see it regardless. I enjoyed it well enough. I thought it was a lot funnier than I think the filmmakers intended to make it. It was the more dramatic scenes. I couldn't get through them without giggling like an idiot.

Then today I went to see Captain America. I had consumed significantly less caffiene, which could explain my relative sobriety throughout the movie. I thought it was pretty damn entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the Eagleland (flavor 1) song, as I have dubbed it. It was probably worth going just to see that.

Is Cowboys vs Aliens out yet? If so, I may go to see that tomorrow. Western sci-fi worked for Firefly, after all.

I'm pleased to report that Italy is still a land of sun, sun, and attempted vehicular homicide. This holiday saw me a few steps closer to crossing off every town in Italy as a holiday destination.

'Twas quite a standard affair. I traveled for eleven hours at a time to get to one town, then looked at some buildings and such other tourist-ey things, then hopped on a train/bus/boat to get to the next town. Apart from that, nothing much happened. I accidentally set my hand on fire last week, though. Never done that before. I don't recommend it.

But what do I know? I'm colour blind.

This is a fantastic trailer and well worth watching if you haven't aleady.

"So, you guys like to tell jokes, huh? Gigglin' and laughin' like a bunch of young broads sittin' in a schoolyard. Well, let me tell a joke. Five guys, sittin' in a bullpen, in San Quentin. All wondering how the fuck they got there. What should we have done, what didn't we do, who's fault is it, is it my fault, your fault, his fault, all that bullshit. Then one of them says, hey. Wait a minute. When we were planning this caper, all we did was sit around tellin' fuckin' jokes! Get the message? Boys, I don't mean to holler at ya. When this caper's over - and I'm sure it'll be a successful one - we'll get down to the Hawaiian Islands, hell, I'll roll and laugh with all of ya. You'll find me a different character down there. Right now, it's a matter of business. " Joe, Reservoir Dogs

So in the very little free time I have in between exams and studying, I've been playing Mass Effect again. Possibly a bit too much, because I just noticed that Wrex is "Jerk" in ROT13.

      I need a hobby.

I just saw X-Men: First Class. It's a great film. Go see it.

Although, they killed off Darwin something like ten minutes after he first appeared. And Banshee wasn't Oirish. And for a telepath, Xavier can be unthinkably insensitive to Jewish Holocaust survivors.

Personally, I'm still waiting for an X-Men film wherein Dr. Nemesis makes an appearance.

Well, he made a Half Life trailer. It's pretty good

Well, The Rapture started 28 minutes ago, by my count. There's significantly less fire and brimstone than I was promised.

"VoilĂ ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V." V, V for Vendetta

Well, exams start next week. I only remember half of the Physics syllabus and virtually nothing of the Further Pure Maths 3. Obviously, since I'm writing this journal, I'm getting distracted far too easily.

I've got to go catch up with everything again. I may not be on as much until my exams are over. I'll be back when the panic subsides.

but Bin Laden recently kicked the bucket, courtesy of the US military. Celebration abounded, or so I'm told. I'm having a hard time understanding that, actually. Don't get me wrong, I think it's fuckin' A that you managed to take him down, but everyone's acting like that's it for terrorism. We won, they lost and world peace can now ensue.

I don't mean to be a downer, but he's probably not some Lex Luthor-like mastermind orchestrating every terror-related event in some kind of vast Batman gambit. There'll be a backlash for this, mark my words. Call me paranoid.

Having said that, may as well enjoy it while we can. Go nuts.

"He's the face the media have decided to put on terror, but it doesn't mean he's actually running the operation. It's kind of like Kentucky Fried Chicken. Just because the Colonel's picture's on the bucket, doesn't mean he's actually making the chicken." Rich Hall
