While I don't actually believe anyone cares, here are some pictures of wild 'n crazy Anime Boston antics.

I love Steve Martin's writing. After reading his plays ("Picasso at the Lapin Agile and Other Plays") and his various writings for the New Yorker, I had to pick up whatever I could find in the bookstore. So far, I've come across "Pure Drivel," which is excellent comedy writing, and two of his novels. I adore the novels.
"shopgirl" has an interesting story and some great characters, but I really loved the obsessive-compulsive narrator of "The Pleasure of My Company."
Has anyone else found other works of Martin's, or know of any upcoming releases?

serves me right for hanging around here, I guess, but I still can't believe some of the stuff the people on these forums say. I know that I was guilty of being a teenage girl at one point, and we're a pretty damn annoying bunch, but I don't recall ever having a public discussion on the best movies to score with or which teen movies are best for masturbation or blaming women for negative depictions of women.
I think I'm just going to go back to lurking while waiting for the videos. That pissed me off a lot less.

Newest anime from the guy who did "Voices of a Distant Star"...
It's really gorgeous and moving, particularly the art and music. But it does move really slowly and doesn't cover a lot of ground.
So, it's fabulous, and definitely better than the disappointment that was "Steamboy," and I don't think I could change anything about it... it's just a very laid back, distant story with very laid back, distant characters. But I want the soundtrack.

I'm still not quite sure how I feel about this. I saw the dub (not my choice, though I was pleasantly surprised by Paquin's performance), so I'm afraid my impression may be a little skewed. The dialogue and characters just seemed so flat... it's a shame they couldn't match the awesome animation.
It was a beautiful film, but I just feel there should have been more to it.
Can anyone comment on the subbed version?

The Incredibles DVD is okay. The movie is just amazing. I forgot how much I really loved it. It's right up there with Garden State and Sideways on my list of the best movies of the year.
Steamboy was quite shiny, but I really felt no attachment to the characters. I can't believe, after 9 years of work, there didn't seem to be any emotion in the thing. It won't linger quite the way Akira does (I saw Akira 5 years ago. Never watched it since. It still haunts me.)
I really want Corpse Bride out. Now.

      yes. gone.
I have my reasons, and they are mainly that I felt I was giving kind of an egotistical impression, as many (not all, but many) tended to just make comments about my appearance rather than the costumes or composition of the photographs.
I kept around an icon-sized picture because I just like having a picture of me next to my posts. I think it gives me a little bit of voice or personality... something.

About my last post, that's too bad. I know school always comes first (well, at least it's supposed to), but to have to give up something you like so much sucks. Hope you can get back into it. Good luck with Comp Sci.

While I'm @ it, happy Thanksgiving and hope you have a good holiday! God knows I need the break from school and I'm sure you do too! Sit back, relax, and, of course, stuff yourself!

      Hey Rais,

I was wondering. You're a student, so are you in the drama/theater club/class etc. @ school? I'm assuming you are, but I thought I'd ask. I was also wondering if you're going to be in anything shortly. I'd love to see you in action (acting, that is).

      ICJ

P.S. Sorry if this slows you down.
