Things I love about my Kindle...

      1. I can look up any word I'm not 100% certain of the definition of in about 2 seconds.
      2. It tells me exactly what percentage of my book I have read. Like last night I finished 67% of "The Know-it-all".
      3. I have a bunch of books in something that's more portable than a graphing calculator. Well, maybe equally as portable.
      4. When I finish one book in a series, I can immediately get the next book and start reading it.
      5. Easy to turn the pages with one hand/hold with one hand (I get tired of my hand getting tired/losing my place while reading a paperback and eating).
      6. The battery lasts like a month.

Things I don't love about my Kindle:
      1. No pages.

I feel like one day I'll be old and grey and telling those young kids about when books had pages. And they won't understand why I like them/miss them. On the list of books with pages are cassette tapes, what a 35mm film canister is, and a phone with a cord.

      Vacation!!

Currently, I'm on vacation in Victoria, B.C.

I've been here many, many times because my grandma lives here. This time, I decided to try to do things that I haven't done before. Yesterday I visited Hatley Castle, which is on the grounds of the Royal Roads University.

So what's so awesome about this castle you may ask? The answer to that is it's the castle they used while filming X-Men for the school! How awesome is that? They also filmed a little inside. It was apparently also used in the show Smallville as Lex Luther's mansion, but I never watched the show so I wouldn't know.

Bah. I tried linking pictures, but it wouldn't work. There are some on my facebook page for those interested!

I'm also going to try and see the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory while I'm here!!

      Today I scared some children

Today, as I was seeing a friend to the door as he was leaving my house, he suddenly said "Hey who's that little kid on your driveway?"

Now those of you who don't know me that well don't know this, but I hate children being around my house. Last summer these kids kept playing on my front lawn, so I would turn the sprinkler on them to scare them off. I just hate the sound of their laughter. It's so incredibly irritating. What's so fucking funny to kids anyway? So I'm basically an evil person.

So today, when I saw these kids on my driveway, I knew what to do. I stomped over to the front window and slammed open the blinds and gave them the evil eye. The kids responded by jumping away and squealing. My friend and I then laughed our asses off.

Then, something different happened. The children rang my doorbell. I answered, and they sold me chocolate. Maybe I should be scaring children more often? I feel like they're bribing a monster not to scare them. Or maybe rewarding me? Either way, chocolate was hand delivered to my door. I'm so down with that.

      Woops. Missed class today...

Strangely enough, as I'm writing this I'm actually in class. It's a little boring today though.

This morning I learned something. When I'm lying in bed, I'm entirely irrational. I made a bet with my roommate that I would go to every class until the end of the year (3 weeks for me). For every class I miss, I owe her a beer.

So with all this in mind, I woke up this morning at 6. Called my best friend to make sure that he was up because he hasn't been getting up either. Then I showered, went back to bed, and slept until 11. Despite the fact I had a 3 hour class at 8. I just lay in bed, said "I'm tired. I should sleep. Ok" and slept in. Of course, the fact that I was having badass dreams about assassins creed definitely did not help.

So now, if my roommate asks (Yeah, I'm not volunteering anything), I have to tell her I missed class. Then, I left and went for breakfast at Denny's and missed my second class. Seriously. It's like I need a keeper. I have a final tomorrow morning, and the morning after. I had better get my ass out of bed! Is there some sort of therapy available for people who can't get their asses out of bed in the morning? I never used to be this way...

Update on 21 Days of Change

Despite the fact that things have been going relatively well, I've come to a conclusion:

There is no way in hell I'm ranking up to Major by this time next week. I'm working toward Captain - Grade 2 right now. And I have finals soon! There is just no way that I will have the time to make it to Major. I can probably make it to Captain - Grade 3 no problem. Even part of the way to Major. Sigh.

So now I have a dilemma. In my paper/assignment do I accept that I didn't reach my goal? Or do I just re-write it to say that Captain Grade 3 was my goal all along...

      21 Days of Change

So for my "Lifestyle Fitness" class, we have to do something called "21 Days of Change". Basically, over the next 3 weeks we try to install a new habit or goal. It has to relate to the 6 dimensions of wellness and one in particular.

So I'm trying to decide what my goal should be (Typical for me, I was supposed to start on Monday). So far, I've come up with 2 options.

      1. Work out 5 days a week. This one is actually kind of a gimme because I pretty much do this anyway, but I would like to be more consistent. Also, this is definitely the sort of thing my teacher is looking for.

      2. Reach the rank of Major in Reach. I'm sure I could bullshit my way into relating this to dimensions of wellness, and then I would get to play lots of Halo and call it "Homework". However, I'm pretty much certain that my teacher would be... you know... not impressed?

Now I also haven't done a lot of the assignments in this class because I think they're bullshit, so it would be great to get 100% on this assignment. Which is far more likely to happen with the working out part. But, then again, it would be a hell of a lot more fun to play Halo. And honestly, it's less of a gimme. So kind of more truthful as a change in lifestyle anyway. Also, it's just the kind of smart-ass thing I love to do (Last semester I had 20 mandatory volunteer hours, so I volunteered for the Halo club).

So what do you think? I'm pretty sure I can tell already...

      Wow. FU Again??

Jesus. Here it goes again! Suddenly, a ton of new alerts lol.

It makes me feel bad that I'm not more active on this site.

Just... you know... a note though. If you're going to just randomly send me a friend request... the chances of me accepting are slim to none. At least leave a message or a comment or something.

So... I guess I should update my journal? My last update was a startling interesting one about fucking spilling god damn hot chocolate all over my damn bed, which I'm sure captivated audiences everywhere.

I'm just finishing up college this year. Get my diploma in Natural Resource Compliance and then take a year off before I complete my degree in Conservation Enforcement. Should be nice, I'll be living allllll by my lonesome in Calgary (Well, with my dog). To be honest? I can't fucking wait. I get to be honest here because none of my room mates go on here. I'm so sick and bloody tired of living with room mates. I live in a house with 4 other girls, and I think I'm going to go insane. They're pretty much all nice people, but they all seem to do this little things that just annoy the hell out of me. I've resorted to hiding in my room and gaming. Ok, maybe it's not so bad. None of them are remotely interested in gaming, so even if they come and say hi, they leave pretty quickly.

On the gaming front: I've been replaying ACB. It's such a great game. Great characters, great story. So much more varied than the first one, which I'm sure everyone can agree was a little monotonous. I suppose that the evolution of games though. I also have a confession. Despite the fact I preordered and then got the game on the day it came out, I have never played the multiplayer. I know, I know. Everyone says I just have to. But what if it isn't good? Or what if I'm really terrible at it?

I've also been meaning to play more reach. I probably have the lowest rank of anyone I know... it's embarassing! Also then I could get the EVA helmet and get rid of my recon helmet. I hate playing alone though... obviously some people need to step up and make a playdate with me!

And, on a last pleading note, how the hell do I change my NAT settings on my router? It doesn't have a simply NAT control and I looked online and tried to port forward what I needed for XBL but it still says my NAT is closed. I have the SE567 router from Telus... I've thought about calling them but I have better things to do than be on hold for an hour.
