Going home this afternoon. Just my luck, after 2 weeks of temperatures >=70 they decide to now turn on the air-con.

Devils have now been eliminated by the Ottawa Senators. They [Senators] move on to face either Buffalo or the Rangers in the eastern conference finals.

While I do like the drive by the Rangers over the past two years I think that Buffalo will take the series. I also think that an Ottawa - Buffalo series would be more exciting to watch.

For some crazy reason I've become interested in pitching (baseball) again. I've been experimenting a little, practicing to become more consistent, and trying to build up arm strength. So far I've had mixed success, stuck between determining how I throw:

Over the top - higher velocity, more comfortable with form, know where my consistence issues lie (follow through)

Sidearm - lower velocity, more movement, slightly less consistent, not using height advantage

I like my sidearm delivery because I get some movement (not 100% confirmed, need new baseballs that are in good condition) and I am not a hard thrower. I also feel that I am closer to being consistent but it is harder for me for some reason. I end up missing the strikezone laterally because my follow-through is a little sloppy/I'm lazy. I usually drop down a tiny bit lower than normal when throwing so I lose a little height advantage.

I like my standard, over the top delivery because my timing rhythm is smoother and I can keep my motions at a constant pace. When I miss the strikezone I end up on a diagonal. Facing the plate, I miss up to the right and low to the left. I believe this means I'm not following through (up right) and over throwing (low, left).

Again with the sidearm, I like throwing that way because of my wrist. When I throw overhand I get a weird feeling that I'm not orienting my wrist correctly. If I don't think about it, I don't notice it but if I get frustrated my mind wanders to it. Not really an issue but its a nagging thing. Probably just a mental thing.

I'll work it out when I'm home and can talk/show things to my brother.

Lastly, I think I'll try to learn to throw a knuckleball. I've goofed around with the idea before, I might try it out.

Ok, I said I would explain so here goes:

Materials: I wasn't limited to material used. The scoring system was based on where the container landed in relation to a bullseye, the weight of the container, and the number of components used. Pretty much make the lightest device with the fewest components.

The competition: My first trial went pretty well but I missed the target zone. My second attempt my parachute folded and it went down faster than what I would have liked. Also it caught wind and still didn't land in the zone. On my final attempt, I hit a huge gust of wind and my container flew under the bridge and snagged on an ivy branch.

Overall, I didn't break an egg in any of my trials. If i was a little more accurate I could have placed better overall. Not bad though.

Sorry for the craptastic grammer and writting. I'm busy and I don't have time to review and I'm tired. I'll post pictures when they're up.

Sorry, I didn't have my camera with me to take pictures. However, the group running the event were taking plenty of pictures so I'll just snag some of theirs when they put them up.

Anyway, I don't have time to explain the whole event but I will tomorrow. I did manage to come in 17th place out of a possible 42. Not bad for my first time doing an egg drop. Took me less than 3 hrs to build mine. If I had more time to do some research and actually buy materials I probably could have ended up closer or in the top 10.

      Time for sleep.

It was made with random wood from the garage (leftover old shelf stuff - pine), sanded flat and lacquered with a clearcoat to maintain the color. Sadly I got a free router about a month later but I didn't want to take it off of the wall and fix the edges. Maybe later. Now I just need to reassemble all the wood working equipment I left in Denver when we moved. S05.gif

O ya, and to get the other strut bar, I took the one sitting in the box of the guy who did the install for me :) Now i owe him another one smiley0.gif

    • 1nF3Rn0

CAI and a 15% reduction pully. About 20 more whp. And a new Strut Bar because my JCW wouldnt fit over the ALTA CAI...

It sounds louder because to put the CAI in, you open a hole to toew cowl scoops, so you basically open the firewall up. Its incredible :)

      or

get an impreza with the same miles, and as long as you don't run it at 7k rpm all day long, it'll last to 300k miles no problem smiley8.gif

    • FunkMasta

turbo or not, it makes no difference. fyi.

as for the renesis... why? thats a lot of money to put into a junker. yes you COULD do it, but you'll pay more for the renesis than for the RX7 you're putting it into

    • FunkMasta

oh yeah, i forgot about the RX7 comment lol

yeah uhhh old rx7's fall apart. the engines just stop functioning and need rebuilding after 100k UNLESS they've been babied and not taken above 5k rpm. i dare you to find an RX7 owner that hasn't hit the rev limiter smiley2.gif

because the cars are sort of hard to find, #1. almost rare to find a good one.

and, because of this, fanboys pay more for them than they are worth. so you're better off looking for an older impreza.

i've seen 93-95 impreza L's going for less.
