      Now you know.

    • RTX Journal: Places to Eat.

I know for RTX a huge thing is where to eat, so I figured I'd put together a list of places that'd I'd recommend. If anyone has any questions on any of them let me know. smiley12.gif

Now some of these places cost more than other *cough* Lamberts *cough* but I've gone ahead and linked to the menu for most places so you can check it out and make sure it's not over you price range. I tried to keep any super expensive places off of here but if people wanted a few suggestions for very nice restaurants I could definitely names a few.

Places marked with an * are small places and are not suitable for groups of more than 4. (Chuy's you could do more but I've always enjoyed it more with no more than 4 people.)

      <10 min walk
      Iron Cactus
      Casino El Camino
      Crepe Cafe*
      Easy Tiger
      Cedar Door
      Iron Works Barbecue
      Blenders and Bowls
      2nd Bar and Kitchen
      The Backspace*
      Piranha Killer Sushi
      Moonshine Grill
      Austin Java

      10-20 min walk (.5-1mile)
      Walton's*
      Hut's Hamburgers*
      Fado's Irish Pub
      Turf-n-Surf Po-Boy
      Lamberts

      Walkable non-austin restaurants
      Ihop
      Chipotle
      Quiznos
      Jimmy John's
      P.F. Chang's
      Subway
      Whataburger

Cab/Car Ride away, but totally worth it
      Chuy's*
      Rudy's
      Juan and a million
      Homeslice
      Torchy's

FRANKLIN'S BBQ IS CLOSED DURING RTX.

NOTE: If you are familiar with public transport or don't mind using it there are some great places up by UT. There is a bus that runs from Congress/2nd to Guadalupe/24th that you can take. There are places like Noodles & Company, Mellow Mushroom, Verts, Pita Pit, Burger King, etc. It should only be 1.00 each way.

Some of the cab ones you could walk to however with the TX heat it's more than most people would want to do

This list also depends a lot on where you are staying. These are based off the convention center, however if for example you are staying at the Radisson the longer walks will be shorter and the 10 min walks may be a bit longer.

I think it's important to note that a LOT of places are closed on 4th of July so anywhere you plan on going that day you might want to call and double check.

(Also note that RTSidequest made a really cool guide of a ton of places that you can totally check out too! RTSidequest Guide)

    • 8.5 Weeks till Pax East

I'm already super excited. I dont care that it's ages away. I'M. SO. FLIPPIN. HYPED! Pax East is so much fun and the fact that I'll get to see a lot of my friends makes it even better.

Today I tried to sort out what I wanted to wear but I couldn't even begin to decide. That basically means oh wow which of these tshirts do I want to wear with the black pants I wear every day? (not the same pair just the same type of pair, oh you know what I mean)

But anywho, PAX East can't come fast enough! Who else is going?

So as 2014 is well underway I can't really call this a new years resolutions but recently I've decided to do more in like a social aspect. Since like 95% of my social interaction come from twitter I feel like I should break away from that a little bit.

So to hopefully help that I'm starting a monthly potluck dinner at my house. I'm pretty damn excited. I love cooking but it gets boring just cooking for Kelly and I, so I have a small list of like 6 people that I'm inviting over every month to come hang out and have food. Talked to everyone today and they all seem pretty excited about it so it should be a good time ^_^

Also I've started streaming on twitch, somewhat regularly. I try and stream every wednesday and saturday and so far it's been so amazingly fun. The last few times I've been playing SNES and N64 games and god those games are so much fun. I will always love Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario Bro 3. Such amazing games! I'm thinking of starting a playthrough of BioShock Infinite on my stream since I never finished it. I think streaming it would be fun for people to watch and then I'd actually finish the game.

So yeah there's that, I hope everyone had a lovely January and a good solid start to 2014. I can already tell this is going to be an amazing year! smiley12.gif

    • December Update Journal Thing

      Well I nailed that title.
      HAPPY DECEMBER.

I love December, Christmas is awesome.

So today marks two months that I have officially been living in Austin and honestly they have been two pretty damn good months. Unfortunately, in two weeks I have to make the 1000 mile drive back to hell florida as I promised my family I would come home for Christmas and plane tickets are way too expensive. It's about a 14 hour drive so it shouldn't be *too* bad and I'll be back before New Years Eve.

ALSO in 9 short days the lovely Emily will be coming all the way from Australia to visit for a few days. I can't wait! There is gonna be a lot of Pasta and Pizza. smiley12.gif

Dont really have anything else to say so yup.
