Brothers in Arms makes its way to the DS through Gameloft. Fortunately, this game should be better than their previous DS outings considering it looks to be based off of the acclaimed mobile game, BIA 3D. (check it out, frickin' sweet)
The DS version is a 3rd person shooter featuring 16 missions, a variety of missions and weapons, and 4 different locales. There are also a few driving sequences.

Watch the trailer, as it shows just how beautiful this game looks (for the DS, naturally). The frame-rate looks a little poor, but when watching the gameplay vids on IGN, it looks just fine.

      IGN Hands-on and Videos
      Gamespot Hands-on

Both sites had really good first impressions playing the game. Apparently the game isn't just beautiful; it also sounds and plays great. I especially like the controls for grenades: You touch the grenade icon and the screen goes to an overhead view. Then you just drag to your target and release!

Look for it in the US on June 19th.

Hi all. I haven't been around much (er... at all, actually) in the past year, but I thought I'd drop in and see if anyone is still watching me.

      If you are, thanks!

And also, WTH? Go ahead move on to people who are worth your time. Sorry, I just don't have time to be around here. This is a great community, but I'm really out of the loop and won't be getting back in anytime soon, sadly.

Plus, I haven't even watched this season of RvB at all (gasp, heresy!).

But all that aside, if anyone wants to know, here's where things are at for me know:
-Finished freshman year at the University of Texas at Dallas
-majoring in Arts & Technology, planning to minor in Music (classical guitar, specifically)
-Working as a multimedia intern at Outcome Engineering
      -Learning Russian

That pretty much sums up life right now. I'd really like to know how anyone around here is doing, so feel free to comment, I'll be around for a few days or so.

I've had my PC for about 5 months now, and I've had only one annoying problem.
While playing Act of War and Company of Heroes, my computer occaisionally reboots. No freeze up. No message. No warning. It just restarts.
I thought it may be a cooling issue, but I ran diagnostics and everything stays within their acceptable temperature ranges.
It's only during those two games that the computer restarts, I haven't had this problem in any other games or any other programs. What could be causing this to happen repeatedly? I doubt it's a software problem, but I'm not sure.

      My configuration:

      Windows XP Home SP2
      Intel Pentium D 3.2 GHz
      1024 MB DDR2 RAM
      nVidia GeForce 7600 GT
      Sound Blaster Audigy
      550W power supply

all drivers are up to date and all updates are installed

If you suspect it's something else and need to know more about my hardware, let me know. I'd appreciate any help with this.

Relic Entertainment is known for their groundbreaking Homeworld and popular Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. Well, they did it again, with Company of Heroes.

This game, simply put, is astounding. The gameplay is fast-paced due to the fact that you have to take control points to gain supplies and defensive buildings are limited.
Company of Heroes is also one of the first RTS's I've played that makes me feel like I'm ordering intelligent men around, not mindless toy soldiers. They react to everything; terrain, enemy fire, friendly movement, etc. They take cover on their own and do it smartly.
The AI of the enemy is smart as well, not just of the units but of the commander as well. The AI will flank you, cut off your supplies, and do all sorts of nasty and unexpected things. No longer does he walk all his units in a line to your base.

Another outstanding feature of CoH is the completely destructible environment. Everything, from churches to hedgerows can be destroyed. This is important, because you rely on your infantry, which in turn rely on cover. Plus, it looks frickin' awesome.
How about the graphics? Well, the image at the top is in-game... so that should give you a good idea of what it looks like. Simply put, it rivals most FPS's of today. You'll want to zoom in a lot in this one.

Multiplayer is superb as well. Due to the control point set-up, you can never sit still and build up your base. You have to keep on sending out troops to capture points to gain supplies, and then you have to hold them, which is difficult as defensive structures aren't as powerful in this game as they are in many other RTS's. You'll spend 90% of the time working on the actual battlefield and not back at your base. The games usually last about an hour, but they're never dull because you're always doing something.

If you're a fan of RTS's, this is a must have. Even if you aren't a strategy fan, you should check it out.

This movie, A Scanner Darkly, is based off of a Philip K. Dick novel. I haven't read it, but I've read some of his short stories, and they were pretty good. You may have seen movies based off of his work, such as Minority Report, Blade Runner, Screamers (based on "Second Variety"), and Total Recall.

      www.apple.com/trailers/warner_independent_pictures/ascannerdarkly/

Anyway, this movie looks interesting, but obviously it's most intriguing point is the style of the movie. Apparently, it's a form of rotoscoping (where they trace/draw on to the film cels). Basically, they filmed the movie then drew over it, much like the Ralph Bakshi LOTR movie (but way cooler). I hope they do more movies with the same art form.

1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
3.) Save it as whatever you want.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

Yeah, I wonder if someone at MS just had a strange sense of humor.

      wraith88

Yup, there's no such thing as subjective news reporting. It's all straight. Just check out these two very similar articles by CNN and Fox:

Here's CNN coverage of a speech the President gave in Chicago...

CHICAGO (AP) -- More than three years after the Iraq invasion, President Bush acknowledged to war-weary Americans Monday that the situation is improving only gradually and urged patience with "more days of challenge and loss."

"Our progress is incremental," Bush said during a freewheeling question-and-answer session with restaurant industry representatives after a speech on Iraq and the war on terror. "Freedom is moving, but it's in incremental steps and the enemy's progress is almost instant on their TV screens."

The president used his opening remarks to herald the swearing-in of the Iraqi government on Saturday, saying it represents "a watershed event" for the troubled region and "a turning in the struggle between freedom and terror."

Yet, with the new government facing security challenges and a host of other problems and the U.S. public increasingly disapproving of his leadership of the war, Bush repeatedly returned to the word "incremental" to describe progress there.

The president acknowledged the American lives lost in Iraq, past mistakes and tough days to come.

"Our nation's been through three difficult years in Iraq," Bush said. "And the way forward will bring more days of challenge and loss. The progress we've made has been hard fought and it's been incremental. There have been setbacks and missteps like Abu Ghraib. They were felt immediately and have been difficult to overcome."

      And here's FoxNews coverage...

WHITE HOUSE ? President Bush on Monday said the inauguration of Iraq's new cabinet over the weekend is a "watershed event" that marks the newest "constitutional democracy in the heart of the Middle East" and a major milestone in that country's movement toward stability.

"This is a free government under a democratic constitution and its formation marks a victory for the cause of freedom in the Middle East," Bush told the National Restaurant Association meeting in Chicago.

Bush called on Iraq's new government to seize the moment and for the country's three main sectarian groups to pursue a common agenda. Bush told the crowd that in a phone call to Iraq's three main leaders, he congratulated new Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, President Jalal Talabani and parliament speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani and promised continued U.S. support.

LOL, I think the tv in the bedroom is only ever used for porn, when we do watch TV its cuddled up on the couch, otherwise we are watching movies or playing games, really we dont need a second tv but it is nice to have for the porn and when the boys wont sleep so we can put them in bed with us and they can watch sesame street or something. But 80% of that tv is used for porn.
