      Epic. Win.

Seriously, I thought it was great. For once a comic book movie that was true to the canon and lore, while not sacrificing any of the great acting or CGI for each other.

I can understand how people don't like the movie though.

Wait a minute. No I can't. I don't know the consensus of Watchmen fans, people that actually read the novel, and those that did not. But I hope to see this movie do well. It will kick ass on Blu-Ray.

    • The good ol' days of a Dictatorship

      yankeeblue

If you have not heard by now, word has been breaking in small circles that during the entire Bush Administration, we as a country we're most likely one terrorist attack away from "Jericho" like insanity.

Okay not nation wide destruction of infrastructure and loss of life. But loss of liberty, there is no doubt.

There is not much to harp on after I post these links and quotes, because it will only take a little imagination to see what I would have to say about it all.

It seems that the George W. Bush Administration had deep plans to extend the powers of the President into those only held by a select few republic leaders, like Senator Palpatine, until they descended into anarchic dictatorships.

"In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, the Justice Department secretly gave the green light for the U.S. military to attack apartment buildings and office complexes inside the United States, deploy high-tech surveillance against U.S. citizens and potentially suspend First Amendment freedom-of-the-press rights in order to combat the terror threat, according to a memo released Monday."

"...the Oct. 23, 2001, memo suggested the president could even suspend press freedoms if he concluded it was necessary to wage the war on terror."

"This claim was viewed as so extreme that it was essentially (and secretly) revokedâ€'but not until October of last year..."

      -Newsweek

"“The law has recognized that force (including deadly force) may be legitimately used in self-defense,†Mr. Yoo and Mr. Delahunty wrote to Mr. Gonzales. Therefore any objections based on the Fourth Amendment’s ban on unreasonable searches are swept away, they said, since any possible privacy offense resulting from such a search is a lesser matter than any injury from deadly force."

"Mr. Yoo and Mr. Delahunty said that in addition, the Posse Comitatus Act, which generally bars the military from domestic law enforcement operations, would pose no obstacle to the use of troops in a domestic fight against terrorism suspects. They reasoned that the troops would be acting in a national security function, not as law enforcers."

"Mr. Yoo, now a law professor at the University of California, Berkeley, is widely known as the principal author of a 2002 memorandum, separate from those made public Monday, that critics have characterized as authorizing torture."

      -NY Times

To sum it all up, Mr. Scott Horton from Harper's Magazine:

"We may not have realized it at the time, but in the period from late 2001-January 19, 2009, this country was a dictatorship. The constitutional rights we learned about in high school civics were suspended. That was thanks to secret memos crafted deep inside the Justice Department that effectively trashed the Constitution. What we know now is likely the least of it."

While the rights were NOT suspended, it seems all it would have taken would have been one more terrorist attack.

And then we'd get to work on destroying our Republic, our democratic way of life, our liberties, and most importantly...ourselves.

This is how democracy dies...sitting on one person's desk.

My new year's resolution is to blog more. Which means I want you to read more about my opinions. So its a win win.

Actually, I think I will start one of those paper "journals". Like one Jefferson or Franklin had.

And as for blogging, I believe its time to dust off my old Blogger website and start drawing attention to the world we live in to any one that cares. Hopefully with my new iTouch (consumer-dom for the win!) I can do that and surf RT/post here more frequently. RT is really a source of hilariousness in my daily routine, something I want to thank all of you that make this site fun.

Here's to a new year, a new president, a new coke (most likely), and new adventures.

    • Last Day before Break

Well this will be my last Winter break from school. Its kind of sad or disheartening to know that from now on I will never have 4 weeks off from work and school for Christmas again.

Unless of course I am the President, a lottery winner, or luck out and become a stay at home dad. Yes being President and stay at home dad do have similarities. You are welcome for that tidbit.

But this break got me to thinking, why do we Americans only have 2 weeks of vacation time a year? Out of 52 weeks, working 40 hours at minimum, we only take 2 weeks to spend time with our family? To recoup? To see what the world is like outside our front porch?

I'm sure we all know that we are some of the "hardest" working people in the world. But does that make us the best just by defacto reasoning? Most countries in Europe give 5 weeks off, some offices in America and outside only work 4 days a week. Is more really better in this new service and non-industrial society we've created?

I for one believe we should move to 4 day work weeks and give employees more then 2 weeks to enjoy their lives. Sure hopefully most of us enjoy our work, but what about our families and friends? How often do we hear about the bad kid who beat or even killed somebody because they never had mom or dad at home? Or because they were too caught up in the race of life to notice their families?

For those of you who have these next few week off from school, enjoy them. Enjoy them for everyone who can't. Let us drink eggnog and be very very merry.

So ramblings from the graduate student in Mississippi for a second on one of my favorite websites.

What the hell happened in the 2 months I've been OFFLINE!? New look, new awards, new mod system, holy n00b.

I've taken a leave of absense for a new job, which put everything on hold, and I come back to a totally new RT forums. I have to say though, I love the visual changes so far. Perhaps I will make RT my new forum workplace, as things seem easier to do now then before. And get cool awards! o.O

That's about it folks. But yankblue is back. Which means he's bored again with the out door world ;)

Where else can I make friends with hockey fans that play the VC and think all Dad's are of course evil?

Oh right...out side my house. Eh this is easier.

yes you are right! lol anything to help the planet and the enviroment,
and Relocation is set just after Reconstruction, when they gave Caboose his own base and the reds the other base on Vahalla, and its only 3episodes in but its definetly looking pretty good so far, and Caboose is up to something but no one knows what it is, yet, and he's keeping it secret too, seems like something is happening in his head rather then the normal nothing lol, Simmons is kissing ass still and grif is still getting hurt for no reason, all about the same as usual really. lol

and yes, you should go and treat yourself to a 360 and H3 as much membership as you can get, also you want to get as many MSpoints as you can get, as you should download all the mappacks for H3 as thats what the playlists for matchmaking are all running on now
